Biography

Dr. Rumi Minami is the Director of the AIDS/HIV Combined Clinic Center at Kyushu Medical Center in Fukuoka. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyushu University in 1995 and completed her fellowship in internal medicine at Kyushu University Hospital and Kyushu Medical Center. In 2000, she obtained her PhD from the Graduate School of Medicine at Kyushu University for her research on apoptosis in myeloma cells. Since 2003, she has been engaged in the clinical care of people living with HIV and in clinical research on HIV/AIDS at Kyushu Medical Center. Her particular interests include premature aging and comorbidities among people living with HIV, and she actively provides information to healthcare professionals in Japan. She also serves as a certified HIV specialist of the Japanese Society for AIDS Research and a certified infectious disease specialist of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, contributing to the training of physicians involved in HIV care.
