Biography
Sabela Lens is a specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, where she leads the Viral Hepatitis Group. She obtained her PhD from the University of Barcelona in 2016, focusing her research on the natural history of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and the impact of its cure. She has developed her own clinical and translational research program in hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis Delta, including a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, principal investigator of competitive research projects, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Hepatology and the Scientific Committee of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) where she is also leading the AI Task Force. She has received international recognition through awards such as the EASL Emerging Leader Award and the UEG Rising Star Award.
