Biography

Dr. Sannisha Dale is a Full Professor in Psychology at the University of Miami, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and the Founder and Director of the SHINE (Strengthening Health through INnovation and Engagement) Research Program. Her primary research interests are (a) enhancing our understanding of the relationships between resilience, trauma, and health outcomes among individuals with HIV and those placed at risk for HIV, (b) investigating psychosocial and structural factors that relate to HIV, (c) developing effective prevention, intervention, and implementation strategies to promote resilience and good health outcomes amongst survivors of trauma and individuals with or placed at risk for HIV and (d) engaging community members and stakeholders in research. Dr. Dale has been a PI of 15 grants in the area of HIV treatment and prevention (e.g., R01 from NIMH focused on a bundled implementation strategy for HIV prevention [i.e. PrEP] in HIV high impact zip codes, NIMH longitudinal cohort R01 among persons living with HIV, NIMH R01 for a randomized control trial of an intervention to improve HIV viral suppression). She has also been a Co-I on over 13 grants spanning physical health conditions, mental health, and health equity. Dr. Dale’s SHINE Research Program has built and sustained partnerships with numerous community-based organizations, businesses (>100), and individuals of lived expertise. In addition, for the past several years she has served as the Director of the Mental Health and Community Engagement Core for a P30 grant (Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health [CHARM]). Lastly, Dr. Dale has given over 200 presentations of her work domestically and internationally, authored over 100 publications, received four career researcher awards, and serves as a consulting editor and reviewer across several peer-reviewed journals.
