Biography

Soumitra Samanta (born 16 August 1984) is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Belur, India. He completed his M.Sc. (2008) in Applied Mathematics from Vidyasagar University and his M.Tech. (2010, awarded the TCS Best Dissertation Award) and Ph.D. (2016) in Computer Science from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India.

His research interests include Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Cheminformatics, and Cognitive Computing. He began his journey in Cheminformatics during his postdoctoral research (2019) at the University of Liverpool, UK. His work focuses on computational drug discovery, including the generation of novel molecules, prediction of apparent permeability, and drug clearance prediction.
