Biography

Prof. William Ampofo has accumulated specialized expertise over 30 years since the discovery of the HIV first infection in Ghana with considerable support for laboratory diagnosis of viral infections across Africa. During his work as a research scientist in the Virology Department, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana, William has authored over 100 scientific papers, contributed to several national, regional and global public health guidelines. He has conducted laboratory capacity building across Africa and participated/chaired conferences and meetings worldwide. He is Ghana Ambassador for the African Society for Laboratory Medicine and Chair of the African Vaccine Manufacturing Initiative.
