Biography
Steven Kerr studied mathematical physics at the University of Edinburgh. Initially, his research focused on theoretical particle physics, but he transitioned to quantum gravity, earning a PhD in mathematics from the University of Nottingham in 2014. He went on to a postdoctoral position at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Following this Steven branched into economics, earning a second PhD from the University of Edinburgh working on game theory and general equilibrium theory amongst other topics. From there he worked as a data scientist in the private sector, which he continues today in a consulting capacity. In 2020 he took on a combined role as a Senior research fellow/data scientist at the Usher Institute and The Roslin Institute at the University of Edinburgh. His work has focused on the epidemiology and genetics of COVID-19.
