Biography
Dr. Tetiana Deshko has worked in HIV/AIDS since 2001. As part of the Alliance for Public Health in Ukraine, she led the Field Programs Department, developing and implementing the national HIV program for key populations that reached over 250,000 people annually and contributed to a decline in new infections. The Ukrainian program is recognized internationally as a model for the EECA region and among the best global practices in concentrated HIV epidemics. Since 2011, Dr. Deshko has managed international and multi-country projects across Asia, East Africa, and the EECA region, focusing on expanding access to PrEP, introducing innovative prevention technologies, protecting human rights, and supporting transitions from international to domestic health funding. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, she became actively involved in humanitarian response efforts. In 2016, Dr. Deshko co-initiated the Harm Reduction Academy, a global learning initiative promoting best practices in harm reduction and HIV prevention. She holds a PhD in social sciences.
