Dr. Vincent Jessey Ganu is a medical doctor and co-leads the largest adolescent and young adult HIV clinic located in the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana. He has extensive clinical experience in the management of these adolescents and young adults living with HIV for the past ten years and has been very instrumental in the development of context-based programmes in improving their treatment outcomes and quality of life.
He is a Public Health Physician and Researcher with over 10 years of multi-country experience in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Malawi, and Lesotho, conducting HIV programmatic monitoring and evaluation activities. He has also led the development of various HIV/AIDS implementation guidelines, standard operating protocols (SOPs) and tools (including those for young key populations), Ghana’s Youth Acceleration Plan, Framework to Guide Youth and HIV Interventions in Ghana in collaboration with local and international partners such as Global Fund, USAID/PEPFAR, WHO, JHPIEGO, WAHO, UNAIDS, UNFPA, Ghana AIDS Commission and National AIDS Control Programmes.
He has conducted a wide range of research in the field of HIV and has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals. His work primarily focuses on infectious diseases, particularly HIV, TB, and the intersection of chronic conditions (mainly HIV) with mental health, particularly in the African context. Non-communicable diseases and health systems research are also key areas of his research.
Through his extensive research and publications, Vincent continues to make significant strides in public health, aiming to enhance the understanding and management of infectious diseases and chronic health conditions, especially among the youth in Ghana and beyond.
