Biography

Wame has enthusiastically worked as a global health, rights, and environmental advocate for over 22 years. Over these years, she fiercely fought to promote the rights of women and young girls and served the needs & interests of communities to gain equitable access to health services & medicines. Wame is currently the Executive Director for MTV Staying Alive Foundation – implementing entertainment-education and mass media interventions, addressing the intersectionality between rights, health, and environment. Wame has led global programs in the areas of HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis C, Non-communicable diseases, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Orphan and Vulnerable Children, Maternal and Child Health, Environment, Nutrition, etc. She has been instrumental in building community health systems, applying her expertise in community-led monitoring, research, costing analysis, advocacy and health promotion, social impact & communications, community dialogue and mobilization.
