Dr. Zhao is the director of the Division of Treatment and Care, National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention, China CDC. She has a professional background in both clinical medicine and public health. She worked as a physician at Beijing Ditan Hospital from 1997 to 2001. She has been working at the China CDC since 2004. Her department is responsible for providing technical guidance for national level free antiretoviral therapy for People living with HIV, including developing guidelines, training medical personnel, and managing national databases. Her research interest is management of antiretroviral therapy and HIV comorbidities, service models, and prevention strategies. She is a member of the national AIDS medical expert group.
Dr.Zhao graduated from the Peking University Health Science Center in 1997. In 2010, she obtained a PhD in Epidemiology and Health Statistics from China CDC. She was a visiting scholar at Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA in 2006 and School of Public Health, UCLA in 2011. She has participated in WHO technical seminars multiple times as a national technical advisor.
She has published academic papers in international journals such as the JAMA Pediatrics, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Lancet ID, Lancet HIV, PLos Medicine and World Health Organization Bulletin, coauthored over 100 papers in both Chinese and English, and participate in 3 English books.
