Biography

Professor Yoon Jun Kim is a distinguished hepatologist with expertise in HBV infection and hepatocellular carcinoma. He leads the Division of Gastroenterology and the Liver Cancer Center at Seoul National University Hospital, providing comprehensive care for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), steatotic liver disease, chronic hepatitis B, and liver transplantation.

With a strong focus on HCC treatment and the genetic determinants of chronic hepatitis B infection, his research spans clinical studies in MASLD, viral hepatitis, and innovative therapies for HBV, steatotic liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Prof. Kim actively utilizes liver transplantation, radioembolization (Yttrium-90), and novel targeted and immunotherapeutic agents to advance the treatment of HCC.

He earned his MD and PhD from Seoul National University College of Medicine and has held multiple academic leadership roles, including Chair of the Academic Committee and Secretary General of the Korean Liver Cancer Study Group, as well as former President of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL) and President of the Korean NAFLD Study Group.

He currently serves as President of the Korean Radio-Embolization Association, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Clinical and Molecular Hepatology, Organizing Committee Chair of APASL 2028, and Council Member of the Asia-Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Expert (APPLE) Association, contributing significantly to international collaboration and advancing the field of hepatology. He continues to lead national efforts toward HBV elimination and the improvement of liver disease care in Korea and worldwide.
