Biography
Dr. Youngmee Jee, MD, PhD, served as Former Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) from December 2022 to July 2025, leading national strategies in evidence-based public health policy, disease prevention, and research across both infectious and non-communicable diseases.
Previously, she was Chief Executive Officer of Institut Pasteur Korea and represented the Asia-Pacific region in the global Pasteur Network. Dr. Jee has extensive experience in international public health, including long-standing collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). She has been a member of the WHO Independent Oversight and Advisory Committee (IOAC) since 2024 and served on the WHO International Health Regulations Emergency Committee on COVID-19 (2020–2023) and the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) (2017–2020).
From 2014 to 2019, she was Director-General of the Center for Infectious Disease Research at the Korea CDC and served on the WHO Western Pacific Region’s Expert Resource Panel on Hepatitis B. Between 2007 and 2014, she worked as Regional Laboratory Coordinator for the WHO Western Pacific Office, supporting laboratory capacity building through the Expanded Programme on Immunization.
