Dr. Keulen earned his degree in Biology and later a PhD in Molecular Virology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. His doctoral research focused on the development of drug-resistant HIV-1 variants, utilizing site-directed mutagenesis to assess the impact of these mutations on the virus's resistance and fitness.
Following his PhD, Dr. Keulen became a Scientific Manager at Virology Networks, where he coordinated the centralized analysis of clinical samples for the European GREAT study.
In 2003, he transitioned to Virology Education, where he has since overseen the development of scientific and educational programs with a focus on HIV and Hepatitis related activities.
