Biography

Helen McIlleron MBChB, PhD, heads a pharmacokinetic research group in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her work evaluates antituberculosis and antiretroviral drug pharmacokinetics in patient populations.Drug-drug interactions in TB/HIV coinfected patients, optimizing dosing in neglected populations such as children and pregnant women and describing PK/PD relationships and interactions within antituberculosis regimens are key areas of interest. The group has a focus on the development of field-friendly pharmacokinetic sampling methods and analytical techniques suited to studying variability in patient populations.
