Biography

Prof. Marc van der Valk works as an internist-infectiologist at the department of Infectious Diseases of the Amsterdam UMC. Since 2021 he is chair of the board of the stichting hiv monitoring(SHM). He has extensive clinical and research experience in HIV-care and viral hepatitis. From 2014-2020 he was Chairman of the Dutch Association of HIV treating physicians. His research is focused on the epidemiology of HIV in the Netherlands, improving the understanding and management of co-morbidity and co-infection in people with HIV and improving quality of HIV care.
