The International Workshop On Long Acting Anti-Infectives (LAAI) is a crucial platform for advancing the development, implementation, and scale-up of long-acting and extended-release (LA/ER) anti-infective therapies. This 1st edition of the workshop will explore the transformative potential of LA/ER drug delivery in infectious disease management, with a focus on recent breakthroughs in HIV prevention and treatment.
Attendees will discuss the clinical application of these therapies in populations with historically low adherence, including pediatric patients, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
By sharing knowledge on trial design, safety, efficacy, and implementation strategies, this 2-day in-person workshop will contribute to the global effort to improve health outcomes, extending the benefits of these therapies beyond HIV to other infectious diseases like tuberculosis, malaria, and viral hepatitis.
