Biography

Dr. Maurizio Bonacini studied Medicine at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. After graduating in 1982, Dr. Bonacini completed an Internal Medicine Residency in New York City. Thereafter, he entered the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Southern California (USC), graduating in 1989. His professional career started at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, followed by a return at USC from 1992-2001 and a Liver Transplant position at California Pacific Medical Center from 2002-2012. Since then, Dr. Maurizio Bonacini have been in private practice with involvement in clinical research focusing on hepatitis B and liver steatosis. Currently, he is working on a project to prevent hepatitis B transmission in Tanzania.
