12 – 13 March 2026
Bridges of Hope Training (BOHT)
Founder & Director
Peter Labouchere is an innovative pioneer of empowering participatory training on health and social issues. For 25 years, he has worked with organisations throughout Africa and beyond, collaboratively developing participatory toolkits and training their facilitators, peer educators and health workers to use them effectively with their client groups and communities.
Programs have focused on issues including HIV prevention, treatment adherence, PrEP, VTP (Vertical Transmission Prevention - e.g. “Have a healthy baby” package developed for JHU/CCP Malawi BRIDGE program), SRHR/Child Marriage (e.g. Hivos / ROOTS Zimbabwe program), and issues of female sex workers around HIV / GBV / stigma / self-value (NorthStar Alliance program, South Africa).
The methodology engages and involves participants in a way that opens up discussion on sensitive issues, and links health behaviours to realizing re-constructed visions of a potential future. It enables participants to internalise their learning, and apply it in a practical way to their personal situation and context. It is effective with all levels of literacy.
