In this ViiV-supported symposium, an international expert faculty will discuss why individualizing care for PLHIV is so important, and how this can best be achieved.
Prof. Adeeba Kamarulzaman will introduce the importance of individualized HIV care and highlight the recent findings of patient-reported outcomes. Prof. Jose Gatell will review data from clinical trials, demonstrating the potential of 2-drug and long-acting treatment options, and how these help to optimize patient care. Dr. Chien-Yu Cheng and Dr. Beng Eu will share their personal experiences, and the importance of real-world evidence, to inform clinical decision-making and the personalization of treatment for patients.
The session will conclude with a panel discussion and an opportunity for live Q&A with the experts.

In this ViiV-supported medical symposium, an international expert faculty shared their own clinical experiences to discuss the past, present and future of HIV care.
Prof. Mark Nelson led a discussion with Prof. Praphan Phanuphak to shed light on the history of HIV/AIDS in Asia. They focused on the evolution of ART and holistic HIV care over the past four decades. Looking ahead, they then explored the potential evolution of Modern ART, discussing the necessary changes to optimize HIV care in the next 30 years.
Dr. Choy Chiaw Yee and Dr. Lai Peng Ho both discussed the History of ART, sharing case studies from Asia and demonstrating how data influenced clinical decisions.
Prof. Mark Nelson then concluded reflecting what makes a Modern Masterpiece.
The Gilead Sciences-sponsored symposium at APACC this year was themed ‘Leaving No One Behind – Closing the 3rd 90 Gap in Asia’ and aimed to provide a platform for healthcare professionals to discuss the latest clinical updates, real-world challenges, and strategies to optimize treatment outcomes in the management of people living with HIV (PLWH) across the Asia Pacific region. Specifically, the objectives of this session were to:
- Review the complex challenges of managing PLWH in Asia
- Discuss strategies to bridge the current treatment gaps in Asia
- Explore the clinical significance of persistent low-level viremia and the role of modern ART in managing heavily treatment-experienced PLWH
