COVID-19 Vaccine Development & Implementation Virtual Workshop | 29 - 30 June

Following a highly successful first edition, Virology Education is pleased to share the second edition COVID-19 Vaccine Development & Implementation Virtual Workshop, livestreamed from 29 - 30 June

With the COVID-19 pandemic now entering its second year, continued education, expert review, and worldwide dissemination of emerging data remain a vital tool in the ongoing battle to fight the spread of this virus and bring an end to the pandemic.

Multiple COVID-19 vaccines are now approved for use and an international vaccination effort is underway. However, this endeavour has not been free from complications and challenges. Having licensed vaccines is not enough to achieve global control of COVID-19.

Concern has been raised internationally over vaccine safety, equitable access, and vaccine uptake.

Reports of albeit very rare, serious side effects have been associated with certain viral-vector based vaccines. These incidences have been widely publicized and may compromise vaccine acceptance among the general public.

They underscore the need for educational programs on vaccine safety and highlight the importance of both surveillance programs and dissemination of expert reviews of benefit to risk ratio to a wide global audience

Now more than ever it remains crucial to have a focus on the facts, what we have learned and what is still to be achieved.

With the continued need to effectively share the latest data, Virology Education will host the second in our series of virtual programs on COVID-19 vaccines with topics to include vaccine safety and efficacy concerning real-world data. World experts will discuss new diagnostic tools to detect emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants and measure durability of protection against infection. Interactive lectures will dive into the prospects of vaccine development, including novel vaccine targets, and tackling vaccine hesitance in vulnerable populations, among other burning questions.

The workshop will provide a global platform to disseminate the latest scientific advances in the vaccine field. It will stimulate discussion and reinforce the interplay of science, community, and policy in delivering an effective vaccine to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program is designed for:

  • Virologists, immunologists, and scientists involved or interested in vaccine research and physicians caring for COVID-19 patients
  • Nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of COVID-19 patients, policymakers, and (non)government representatives
  • Healthcare administrators
