The Asia-Pacific AIDS & Co-Infections Conference 2024
The Asia-Pacific AIDS and Co-Infection Conference (APACC) was initiated to provide a scientific platform for junior investigators from the region to share, present and discuss their research and by doing this, stimulate and strengthen the AIDS research in the Asian Pacific region. This meeting provided a much-needed scientific platform that focused on the developments, issues, and needs in the region.
Asian Digital Health Innovations in HIV/STI Care Workshop
The 21st century so far has been shaped by the relentless advancement in access to information and novel technology. Specifically, the medical field has been revolutionized by the emergence of innovations that are reshaping the landscape of healthcare for both providers and patients alike. These innovations will serve to not only enhance the accuracy and efficiency of medicine but also to drive the field forward into a more connected, personalized future. The tools now exist, leaving the dissemination of such devices as the next challenge. This will require a collaborative effort to bridge the gap between developers and healthcare professionals.
Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum 2024
HIV-related stigma has been linked to depression, psychological distress, compromised adherence to therapy, and overall poor treatment outcome and quality of life. It also largely affects timely diagnosis due to a fear of the public perception of living with HIV. Discrimination and stigma can be experienced at individual, facility, community, or national levels. This indicates an urgent unmet need to educate healthcare professionals, social workers, community representatives, advocates, and policymakers on how to reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination. The Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum aimed to meet this need, and was tailored to the region-specific aspects of the HIV epidemic, national policy, guidelines, and societal context.
