Dr. Adeodata R. Kekitiinwa, an Emeritus Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, is a distinguished leader in pediatric HIV research and care. As the Clinical Research Site Leader at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation-Uganda, affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Kampala HIV Clinical Trial Unit, she has spearheaded groundbreaking DAIDS-sponsored trials and vaccine studies, including COVID-19 research.
During her tenure as Executive Director of Baylor-Uganda, Dr. Kekitiinwa secured over $228 million in grants, transforming HIV/AIDS, TB, and maternal-child health services across Uganda. She was instrumental in establishing Uganda's largest pediatric HIV clinic, now serving over 9,000 clients, including the world’s largest cohort of perinatally infected adolescents.
Her research has shaped global pediatric HIV treatment guidelines and advanced antiretroviral therapy strategies. A dedicated mentor and systems-strengthening advocate, she has received prestigious honors, including Uganda’s National Hero Award and the 2023 PENTA Brighter Future Award.
With a legacy of impactful research and publications, Dr. Kekitiinwa remains a driving force in improving HIV care and shaping policies that enhance outcomes for children and adolescents worldwide.
