Dr. Adwoa Agyei-Nkansah graduated from the University of Ghana Medical School and completed her fellowish training at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. She completed her hepatology training in London Imperial College where she became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London. Also trained at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School in the USA. She is on the faculty at the University of Ghana Medical School, a fellow of the West African College of Physicians and a member of the American College of Physicians. She is the immediate past president of the Ghana Association of the study and Digestive diseases.
Dr. Agyei-Nkansah’s research focuses on natural history and treatment of hepatitis B and C, liver cancer and fatty liver, endoscopic procedures, infectious diseases and medical education. She has published over 35 papers including major treatment guidelines on HIV, Viral hepatitis and Tuberculosis.
Dr. Adwoa Agyei-Nkansah has mentored a lot of fellows, junior faculty and Medical students from Ghana and other parts of the world. She has received numerous awards for academics, mentoring, research and service including awards from the Hepatitis society of Ghana and the Thyroid foundation of Ghana.
Dr. Adwoa Agyei-Nkansah is a member of the Hepatitis technical team, European association for the study of liver disease, board member of the Hepatitis foundation of Ghana among others.
