Alain Volny Anne

Biography

Alain Volny Anne is an HIV/AIDS Treatment activist. Engaged in this cause in the 1990s, with research on HIV and associated diseases as main field of interest, he contributed to the creation of the French Community Advisory Board and its interaction with the ANRS. He also developed treatment counselling programmes for members of key populations affected by HIV, such as migrant women and children, men who have sex with men and drug users. Throughout the years, he has served his community by conveying their perspectives and expectations to various expert committees and advisory boards on HIV and co-infections, in France, as well as at the international level, and by reporting and delivering trainings within a network of NGOs, for the public and for volunteers.

For three decades now, Alain has also been a member of several AIDS organisations whose focus is the information on HIV and co-infections and their treatment. In the EATG, he actively contributes to the European Community Advisory Board (ECAB). These grassroots activities have given him the opportunity to co-sign several scientific papers and sit on several scientific and HIV conference committees. Currently, he is a member of the Glasgow HIV Congress organizing committee and represents the EATG in the Scientific Steering Committee of the RESPOND cohort consortium. Alain is a recognised translator of research papers on sexuality, HIV and co-infections, social sciences, business and diplomacy, and he regularly reports on HIV science for several organisations, such as Sidaction and NAM.
