Alejandro Afani Saud obtained his Medical degree and completed his training in Internal Medicine and in Immunology in Chile. Postgraduate education at the INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Medicale) Unité 271 Hepatites, HIV et Retroviruses, Lyon, France. He has been working in HIV clinical and investigational fields since 1993. Currently is the Director of HIV Center, Clinical Hospital University of Chile. Titular Professor of Medicine, University of Chile and Chief of Clinical Immunology Fellowships Programs of the University of Chile.
Clinical Investigations in HIV Resistance, Tropism, Proviral DNA, Subtypes and HIV Immunology. More than 200 research works presented at Chilean, Latinamerican, European, and many others Infectious Diseases Conferences. More than 70 national and international publications in the same area. Author of several chapters and author of many books (Clinical Immunology, Allergy and 5th edition of AIDS).
Chairman of several Chilean Conferences and Latin-American and other international meetings, member of several official Chilean Delegations. Academic Director of Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile (2006-2014), Member of Chilean AIDS Cohort and Lantinamerican Group, Fellowship of American College of Pysicians (ACP).
