Alexa Nord-Bronzyk, PhD, MA, BA

Biography

Dr. Alexa Nord-Bronzyk is a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE). She works under the Science Health, and Policy Relevant Ethics, Singapore (SHAPES) programme. SHAPES supports Singapore’s goals in research on Human Health and Potential (HHP) through the development of Singapore bioethics capacity, as well as support for local institutions, national regulators and policy-makers, in upholding compliance with ethics and regulatory requirements for research.

Alexa received her PhD in philosophy from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Her focus was on Chinese philosophy and notions of spontaneity in The Zhuangzi. Her work was recognized with the Tan Ean Kiam Award in 2015 and 2020. She has been a member of the Nanyang Confucian Association since 2020 joining in the effort to preserve and carry forward past cultural teachings and establish peace for all future generations. She also served as a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018 and at Soochow University in Taiwan in 2019.

Before joining CBmE, Alexa gained corporate experience with the non-profit organization Michigan Colleges Alliance in the US and Sandpiper Communications in Singapore.

At CBmE, Alexa focuses on AI ethics, research ethics, policy, and Asian perspectives to bioethics. Her most recent work outlines ethical considerations for biomedical research involving AI and addresses issues of bias, human oversight, and risk analysis.
