Ameena Goga was the Director of the HIV Prevention Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council, and recently joined the World Health Organization as a pediatrician in the Child Health and Development Units Research Team. She has Masters degrees in Mother and Child Health and Epidemiology, a Certificate in Integrative Medicine and a PhD in Paediatrics. Between 2001 and 2005 she worked at the National Department of Health in policy and programmes. For the past ten years her research has focused on improving mother and child health and preventing vertical HIV transmission.
