Biography

Andrzej Horban, MD, PhD, graduated from Warsaw Medical University in 1976 and received Ph.D. in 1988. He was a member of the Governor Council of International AIDS Society from 2002-2009, Member of Board of European AIDS Clinical Society from 1997 – 2001, and member of the Executive Committee European AIDS Clinical Society from  2001 – 2008. He has been a Member of Board of European AIDS Clinical Society as Regional Representative since 2012. From 2011 –2015 he was Member of Council of European Society for Antiviral Resistance, from 1999 –2005 - Vice-President of Polish AIDS Scientific Society, and from 2005 – 2011 President of Polish AIDS Society. Since 2005, he has been the National Advisor in the field of  Infectious Diseases and since 2012, he is the Vice-President of the Polish Society of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. He is a director of the Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Warsaw since 1990, and has been a Medical Director since 2009. Since 2009, he has also been the Head of Department of Adult’s Infectious Diseases of Warsaw Medical University. He was involved in many clinical trials, has been a member of Scientific Committees of EuroSIDA, INSIGHT, SPREAD, NEAT network. He has published several papers in the field of HIV, hepatitis and infectious diseases.
