Dr. Anke Bruns studied Medicine at the University of Utrecht, where she obtained her medical degree in 2006. From 2006-2010, she conducted PhD research in the field of lower respiratory tract infections at the infectious diseases department of UMC Utrecht and at Northwestern University in Chicago, USA. She is program director of the Infectious disease fellowschip at the UMC Utrecht. In the last years of her training as an internist, she specialized in hematology and infectious diseases. Since 2016 she has been affiliated with the staff of UMC Utrecht as an internist-infectiologist and during that same year she followed a fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard University in Boston, USA. Due to her training in both hematology and infectious diseases, she has specific knowledge of infections in the immunocompromised patient and vaccination of patients with an immune disorder due to an underlying disease, immune suppression or transplantation.
