Biography
  • Currently engaged in providing psychosocial support to adolescents and youth living with HIV through an intervention aiming to build resilience. Developed a psychosocial needs assessment tool to assess the client’s personal, family, social, medical, psychological/psychiatric, sexual, educational/vocational and environmental history, thereby identifying the needs to be taken into consideration while administering counseling sessions. Cases of non-adherence to treatment, impulsivity, behavioral problems, career confusion, BPAD, depression, relationship issues, disclosure of status, grief, self-harm, anxiety, stress, risky sexual behaviors, ADHD, nutrition counseling, substance abuse etc. are few of the cases dealt with.

  • Incorporated techniques of various therapies like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Anger Management, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy etc. within the counseling sessions. Conducted group counseling sessions for the aftercare beneficiaries of Human Touch Foundation. During the course, referrals to a Psychiatrist and other medical professionals have been made when essential.

  • Introduced SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment) to identify and prevent young people who are at risk of developing substance abuse and reduce severity of substance abuse in current consumers of substance. It is an early intervention and treatment that uses the ASSIST tool developed by WHO to detect level of substance abuse, accordingly administering appropriate level of Brief Intervention using Motivational Interviewing techniques and self-help strategies towards behavioral and Referring to medical professionals when vital.

  • Initiated the Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene campaign for creating awareness of using sustainable menstrual products like cloth pads and menstrual cups among girls and women of marginalized communities. Promoting free access to the menstrual products by these communities is also a part of the program.

  • Participated in the online live discussion “Spill the T with Young Key Population” with young leaders from Asia and the Pacific (Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Nepal) to share the experience of Human Touch Foundation in the COVID-19 response with Adolescents living with HIV across the state of Goa on 12th August 2020

  • Participated in an online Focused Group Discussion on ‘Communities Delegation focus group to contribute to the Open Consultations for the Development of the New Global Fund Strategy’ on 16th September 2020.

  • Active member of Youth Leaders India (YLI) - A Consultation with Young People on the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5 & 8 headed by UNAIDS and CHP, New Delhi.
