Biography

Dr Atsu Godwin Seake-Kwawu graduated from the University of Ghana Medical School in 1994 and completed his internship in 1996. He joined the Ghana Health Service/Ministry of Health and practised general medicine and surgery at various district hospitals.  In 2000, he pursued postgraduate diploma course in health care and management in tropical countries at the Swiss Tropical Institute.  He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp in 2002. He was supported by the African Capacity Building Foundation to undertake a one-year Public Sector Management course at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration where he graduated with Master of Public Sector Management degree. Between 2013 and 2015, he further undertook a Membership programme of the Ghana College of Physicians, specializing in epidemiology and Family Reproductive  Health. He has had a long and rich grassroot public health leadership career as Director of Health Services in several districts of Ghana since 1999. He also had international experience supporting polio eradication in Africa. At a point he was part-time lecturer of Occupational Health with the University of Health and Allied Sciences School of Public Health. Since July 2020, he has held the position of Programme Manager of the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. He is married with two children.
