Axel Vanderperre decided in 2016 to focus to projects of added value to the patient and the medical professionals following a long career of more than 30 years in the medical and pharmaceutical industry in clinical research and communications.
Within this context he decided to work on strategic & operational level targeting the Persons Living with HIV – PLHIV needs and translate it with operational projects (such as surveys, medical education, self-management & empowerment of the patient, medical conferences …).
To achieve those goals he decided to join different HIV patient organisations and to develop a Not for Profit organisation UTOPIA_BXL with focus on identification of needs and expectations of Ageing PLHIV and creation of educational projects with added value and innovation to the PLHIV ageing community. He is also coordinator of the Positive Council in Belgium and active member of the EATG (European Aids Treatment Group) and founding member of the International Coalition of Older Persons living with HIV.
