Ayden Scheim, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health and affiliate/adjunct faculty at St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto, Canada) and Western University (London, Canada). Dr. Scheim is a social epidemiologist with over fifteen years of experience in HIV prevention, health, and human rights among key populations, particularly transgender people and people who inject drugs. He currently conducts community-based research with trans women, men, and non-binary people in Canada, the U.S., and India and serves on the Sexual Health chapter workgroup for the forthcoming revision of the World Professional Association Standards of Care. Dr. Scheim’s research and consultancy work also focuses on advancing methods for transgender inclusion in HIV surveillance and other population health data globally.
