Bernard Mutsago, MPH

Biography

Mr. Bernard Mutsago is a health policy researcher, working for the South African Medical Association for the past 12 years, based in Pretoria. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Cape Town. His interest and passion is in primary health care and prevention, health equity, universal health coverage (UHC) and social determinants of health. He has a particular interest in climate change and its impact on health and the general welfare of humanity. He is currently a member of the National Climate Change and Health Steering Committee. He has written a lot of policy opinion pieces on climate change and health. His work in the South African Medical Association included compiling company submissions on the climate change policy, climate change green paper, and the climate change Bill. He also delivers Climate Change talks to medical doctors, for continuous professional development purposes (CPD). He is a lifelong Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity in South Africa.
