Berta Torres, MD, PhD

Biography

Dr. Berta Torres completed her Internal Medicine residency at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, Spain, in 2011 and obtained her PhD in Medicine in 2018 at the University of Barcelona (UB), Spain.

Since 2014 she has been working at the HIV Unit in Hospital Clínic, Barcelona. The HIV Unit in Hospital Clinic takes care of more than five thousand people living with HIV. She is part of the multidisciplinary clinical follow-up group for pregnancy in women living with HIV at the Hospital Clínic and one of her main research areas of interest is the impact of female sex and gender on HIV infection.

She is an associate professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine of the UB and a professor in the HIV master's program at the UB. She has given several talks at the national level about HIV in women and is currently supervising a doctoral thesis focused on this topic.
