Biography

Bisola Ojikutu, MD, MPH, FIDSA, is an Infectious Disease Specialist and Assistant Professor of Global and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ojikutu is an Associate Physician within the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is also a faculty member within the Infectious Disease Divisions at Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals.

Her research and advocacy efforts are focused on the impact of structural factors and norms/beliefs on infectious disease transmission and prevention, particularly HIV and COVID-19. Much of her work has addressed medical mistrust as a primary driver of health disparities. Within the Harvard Center for AIDS Research, she is the Director of the Community-Engaged Research Program and the Associate Director of the Bio-Behavioral and Community.

Recently, she has focused her efforts on increasing the participation of racially and ethnically diverse populations in COVID-19 research and promoting vaccine uptake.  She is currently funded through a collaborative partnership with RAND Corporation dedicated to developing strategies to address COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy within the Black community in the US.
