Brent Appelman is a Ph.D. student and a long COVID physician at the Center of Experimental and Molecular Medicine at the Amsterdam University Medical Centres. He has been seeing patients in the post-covid clinics for over two years and has seen firsthand the problems that long COVID patients experience. During his post-COVID clinic, he was involved with the creation of the post-covid biobank through which various research projects are set up. In the last year, he has set up multiple new research projects in long COVID patients focusing on post-exertional malaise, mitochondrial dysfunction, auto-immunity, IDO-2, and exercise intolerance. Future works will include clinical trials for long COVID as well as the inclusion of various other post-infectious diseases
