Biography

Calvin Q. Pan, M.D. is a Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health in New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He earned his MD from SUNY Albany and completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Pan currently chairs the Hepatitis B Special Interest Group and is a former chair of the Online Learning Committee at the AASLD.

Dr. Pan has dedicated his career to conducting over 46 clinical trials and researching the natural history, prevention, and treatment of viral hepatitis. He has authored numerous original articles published in prestigious journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Gut, Journal of Hepatology, and Hepatology. He has also co-authored four professional practice guidelines and consensus statements on liver disease management. Notably, he serves as co-chair of the writing group for the 2024 AASLD Hepatitis B Guidelines.

In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Pan has received several prestigious honors, including the James D. Bruce Memorial Award for Distinguished Contributions in Preventive Medicine from the American College of Physicians and the Outstanding Contribution Award from the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases. He is a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the AASLD.
