Catherine Godfrey, M.D., FRACP

Biography

Dr. Godfrey is an infectious disease physician with extensive experience in HIV, TB, and STIs. She is the senior technical advisor for adult care and treatment at the Office of the Global HIV AIDS Coordinator at the Department of State and leads several high profile workstreams including the PEPFAR’s response to COVID-19, mortality in the PEPFAR cohort, approaches to interruptions in treatment, infection protection and control, as well as differentiated service delivery for adults. She has published extensively on treatment issues for people living with HIV and  is the recipient of awards which reflect contributions to women’s health and to the HIV affected community.  
Prior to coming to PEPFAR she was at the Division of AIDS at the NIH and conducted clinical trials on different treatment issues for people living with HIV.  She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having spent many years in New Zealand where she was an infectious diseases consultant and Clinical Head of Medical Subspecialties at a 700-bed teaching hospital in Auckland.
