Cherie Bennett is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Sexual Health and HIV) and Medical Educator with over a decade of experience in HIV, Sexual Health, and Viral Hepatitis. She has an extensive portfolio spanning government, non-government, research, and healthcare sectors, including her consulting business, operating in both Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

She manages the Cooper HIV/AIDS Research Training (CHART) Program, an initiative enhancing research capacity among healthcare professionals in the Asia Pacific region. At the Kirby Institute (UNSW Australia), she oversees program leadership, curriculum development, participant recruitment, stakeholder liaison, budgeting, and contractual compliance.

Cherie is also a sessional academic at the University of Wollongong teaching in the Nursing School and at the University of New South Wales (Sydney) teaching in the School of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Previously, Cherie was based at the STI Programs Unit with the NSW Ministry of Health, where she served as the state-wide HIV Clinical Nurse Consultant. Her role involved analysing HIV testing policies, coordinating the development of supporting resources for the NSW HIV Support Program, and working on the implementation of expanded PrEP implementation in communities (EPIC) demonstration project.
