Dr. Christina Wyatt is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at Duke University School of Medicine and the Duke Clinical Research Institute. Her research has focused on defining the epidemiology of kidney disease among people with HIV (PWH), including those with comorbid risk factors such as diabetes. She also has more than 10 years of experience as the embedded nephrologist in two HIV clinics.
Her research has involved productive collaborations with several large HIV cohort studies and clinical trials. Dr. Wyatt is the PI on an R01 investigating the long-term implications of early antiretroviral therapy in the START study cohort, and she is a co-investigator on several HIV-related studies, including an ancillary study to the REPRIEVE trial of statin use in HIV, translational studies investigating the kidney as a potential viral reservoir, and two observational studies of kidney disease among PWH in low- and middle-income countries. In addition to original research publications, she has been an invited contributor to reviews, book chapters, and expert guidelines on HIV-related kidney disease and antiretroviral nephrotoxicity. She is an Associate Editor at Kidney International, the leading scientific journal in nephrology.
