Christopher Joseph Kopka

Biography

Christopher J. Kopka (JD) serves as Strategist for the Health Systems Research Group of ISGlobal (Barcelona, Spain).

A multi-disciplinary researcher, teacher, and business developer by nature, Chris designs and executes strategies that make sense of and develop value from the intersection of law, policy and practice across a variety of sectors. A former Fortune 500 C-Suite executive, Chris retired early in 2019 from a 25+ year career in progressively senior positions and entrepreneurial opportunities that emphasized aspects of business strategy, M&A, venturing, law and risk management.

In 2020, Chris recognized early-retirement was rather boring, ‘unretired’ himself, and shifted professional focus to an early passion: public health.  His current research agenda explores regulatory, policy, marketplace, and health systems operational barriers to closing the diagnostic gap for under-diagnosed, yet highly prevalent non-communicable liver diseases. Chris also leverages his past professional experience in training, development and instructional design to assist ISGlobal and partner organizations with training, continuing education and innovation-oriented facilitation.

He resides in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, with his wife Anna Dvorak, abstract expressionist painter and cookbook author.
