Biography

Cristiana Oprea MD, Ph.D. is Associate Professor at “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, a practicing specialist in infectious diseases and the Head of the HIV Department at Victor Babes Clinical Hospital for Infectious and Tropical Diseases Bucharest, Romania.

She is working in the HIV field since 1994, treating initially children from the HIV paediatric cohort, continuing with adolescents and young adults and lately facing a new HIV epidemic in injecting drug users and other key populations. Her research interest is focused on HIV and opportunistic infections (tuberculosis and neurological complications), co-infections with viral hepatitis in PWIDs and Standards of care for HIV and Coinfections in Eastern and Central Europe. She is a member of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) Governing board since 2014 and of the EuroSIDA Steering Committee since 2017.
