Dagny Clea Krankowska, MD

Biography

Dagny Clea Krankowska, MD is a specialist in infectious diseases at the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases and Hepatology at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Warsaw, Poland. Dr Krankowska also works as a junior teaching assistant at the Medical University of Warsaw, as well as a lecturer on neurological disorders in people living with HIV. She is a consultant at the National AIDS Centre in Warsaw, Poland. She is a member of the Polish AIDS Society and the European AIDS Clinical Society, and has presented at several international AIDS and infectious disease conferences. She is an active and keen contributor of scientific literature, authoring several academic publications in the fields of HIV and infectious diseases in peer-reviewed journals, including a recent comment on the Phase III IMPAACT 2010/VESTED trial of the use of ART in pregnant women living with HIV. Dr Krankowska has also been a lecturer for the HIV and Ageing Project, a series of workshops on chronic diseases in elderly people living with HIV in Warsaw.

Dr Krankowska has combined her passion for art with her professional pursuits, co-founding the Tent/Namiot project, which fused medicine and art, in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition to her professional works, Dr Krankowska has been directly involved in several humanitarian projects. She served as a member of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace and acted as coordinator of The Invisibles, a project working with homeless people in Warsaw.
