Dalibor Sedláček, MD, PhD

Biography

Dalibor Sedláček, MD., PhD. is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine, and HIV Centre at the teaching hospital, Charles University of Pilsen in Czech Republic. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Charles University of Prague, Faculty of Medicine Pilsen, and completed his residency in the Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine Pilsen. He had fellowships at MZV Karlspatz Munich (1995), HIV Outpatient Clinic at the University Hospital of Zurich (1996), and the SUNY (New York 1997, 2001) and has actively participated in many conferences on HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sedláček is a lecturer of infectious diseases, and is involved in HIV research on antiretroviral therapy, opportunistic infections, neuro-infections and other immunodeficiency cases (patients after splenectomy etc.). He has been an investigator in clinical trials of antiretroviral agents as well as observational studies.In 2016 he was elected as the head of the Czech HIV – working group. He was also a member of the scientific committee of the EACS conferences (in 2008-2015) and has been a member of the National Czech AIDS Advisory Panel since 2015.

Dr Sedláček and his co-authors were awarded the Professor Kredba´s prize in 2001 by the Czech Society for Infectious Diseases. Dr Sedláček has authored or co-authored over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and several chapters in 7 books.
