Dr. Lau completed her medical training and gastroenterology fellowship in McGill University and Queen’s University in Canada, respectively. She later received the Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, United States. She has been focusing on clinical and translational research on viral hepatitis since her hepatology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), United States. Her research interests range from epidemiology, natural history, novel therapeutics, biomarkers as well as molecular pathogenesis of viral hepatitis. She is currently the director of Translational Liver Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. She served as the program director of the NIH-sponsored Harvard hepatitis B Consortium for over 10 years and is a co-Chair of the Point-of-Care (POC) team at ICE-HBV that focuses on HBV management in the resource limited regions.
