Biography

David has been facilitating learning with nurses, midwives and across a range of other health and social care professions since 1990.  Initially a registered nurse, who worked in HIV in-patient services in the 1980s, he also spent 10 years with the Catholic Church and worked as an ordained priest in Wales. He has published widely and presented at conferences in the UK and abroad. In 2014 he became a National Teaching Fellow, the UK’ highest award for teaching excellence in higher education; in 2017, David was appointed an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen, “for services to nursing and sexual health education”, and 2018, a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, for strategic leadership in sexual health education. He is working with three medical organisations on interprofessional educational initiatives (Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, British Association for Sexual Health and HIV and the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine).
