David Roth, MD, PhD

Biography

Dr. Roth is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is the holder of two endowed Chairs and is the Clinical Director of the Katz Family Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.  He is also the Education Director and Immediate Past President of the Florida Society of Nephrology. He has previously served as Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and has been closely involved with its Nephrology Fellowship Training Program, including serving as the Program Director for many years.  During his 37 years on faculty, Dr. Roth has focused his clinical activities in the area of kidney transplantation.  In this context, he has maintained an ongoing research interest on the clinical impact of hepatitis C virus infection in patients with kidney disease, with special focus on outcomes associated with HCV infection on the kidney transplant candidate and recipient. He has published extensively on this topic and is an invited lecturer at national and international meetings.
