It has been 25 years since Dee has been living with HIV. She began advocating hosting an internet podcast called Positively Dee's Discussion on Blog Talk Radio USA to end stigma. She wanted to show others that you can live a beautiful life after HIV diagnosis through the show, which became a platform for others to share their HIV journeys. Now an international speaker and a contributing writer for the HIV.net website, she holds a degree in Public Health. As well as serving on the board of Positive Justice Project, Southern Nevada HIV Prevention Planning Group (So NHPPG), Las Vegas TGA Ryan White, the Free NuShawn Coalition, former blogger for thebody.com, and a member of Sister Love's Leading Women's Society, and part of the first UequalsU campaign in the U.S. - Positive Series campaign. In 2018, she won the ADAP Leadership Award for her podcast, and in 2019, was awarded the Persistent Advocacy Award from AIDS Watch. A&U magazine, Poz magazine, health stories project, HIV Plus Magazine, and Denver's 5052 magazines have all featured her advocacy efforts.
