Diane Descamps, MD, PHD

Biography

Diane Descamps is MD and PhD. She is currently Professor of Virology in Denis–Diderot Medical School at Paris-Diderot University in Paris. She is the head of Virology department, at Bichat-Claude Bernard University Hospital. She is the team leader of an academic research unit « Strategy in Antiretroviral Therapy and Resistance » in INSERM UMR_1137 and Paris-Diderot University. Her research interests focus on antiviral therapy and drug-resistance, virus genetic variability, and molecular diagnostics. She is involved for more than 20 years in HIV-1 resistance to antiretroviral drugs and HIV-2 resistance and pathogenesis. She is the coordinator of the Agence Nationale de Recherche sur le SIDA et les Hépatites Virales (ANRS) Resistance Group. She has published over 200 peer reviewed articles as well as book chapters. She is involved in programs for training and diagnosis in resource-limited countries.
